AW WISHLIST

I've become a bit uninspired with clothes lately, as I work from home I don't really have lots of occasions to make an effort so it's normally casual slob for me. Here are a few things I've seen that I like, although I've banned myself from venturing into actual shops as my current balance is in no fit state for a splurge...! :(

THE DAY'S WAR

I just bought the book pack edition first album from Lonely the Brave, who have my very good friend Mo as a drummer :) I love the artwork so much, it was done by a guy in the year above me at Uni in Cambridge, Alex Woodhead. The album itself is also amazing and they're currently no.14 in the charts! It's lovely to see my friend and the band doing so well and I'm so excited for where they'll go next :D

Also me and Matt got a cheeky little mention in his thanks list... so chuffed!

CUBANISTO HOUSE OF MASK

On Friday me and my housemate were invited to a Cubanisto House of Mask party by a friend, I wasn't really sure what to expect but it was really fun :) You went through a wall of dry ice and had to write a 'confession' on a slip of paper, then you were let in two at a time to the entrance where there were actors who gave you a mask and a skull puzzle piece, then guided you through to a tiny door to where the party was....

The whole place was covered in UV illustrations and there was a craft room so you could decorate your mask... very fun squeezing glitter everywhere whilst tipsy ;) We also tried to look our coolest in the photobooth... ha.

We had free drink wristbands too which was amazing so drank quite a lot of Cubanisto... I actually love rum so it's quite a fitting beer :) Me and another friend matched our puzzle pieces and got a key to a secret sign up thing too?! Although I'm still waiting for that email, ha. They do events all over the UK it seems so I'd definitely recommend it for a different night out.

HANGING

So I spent yesterday in a black hole of a hangover... even though I'd only had about five beers on Saturday! Getting old.... meh.

Anyway, we had a great time at the Chatsworth Road Festival in Hackney, I haven't actually explored this area since being in London, even though it's walkable from us! It was a very sweet festival, with a little band stage, kids circus entertainers and as we nicknamed him, the 'bubble man'. Percy enjoyed himself a lot too, getting lots of attention from the kids :)

And as I'm a 'penniless artiste', ha - it was nice to just drink beers from the 'offie and save a bit of money... we went back to a friends after and have a living room disco until the early hours. But yes I felt it yesterday and spent all day on the sofa drinking tea and watching trash. But back to it now and lots of work to get on with!

DROPS

As the Art Director for Dead Ink Books, one of my jobs is to assign an 'ink drop' image to each of our new posts and reviews. I thought I'd collect a few of them together here :)

I normally use my own photography for them, or sometimes royalty-free ones I find online if I don't have anything suitable. I try to take a small part of the post and reflect it in an ambiguous image to go with the title.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY

I thought I'd share this quick recipe for a healthy brek...
Matt is on a bit of a health kick at the moment, therefore my usual butter / syrup laden pancakes weren't quite suitable :) So I looked up a recipe for a healthier version and they're actually really good...

For two people you just need to mix four egg whites with about 3/4 cup of oats, plus some cinnamon and a bit of brown sugar (if you like). Whisk up the eggs till foamy and then add everything else and cook like normal American pancakes. We had them with grilled bacon and stewed apple :)
